The Basics
How to sign up – The process is simple, just click on ‘Register’ in the bottom left of this page. From there follow the instructions given. Make sure to change your password as soon as is possible!
How to change your password – Once you are registered and can sign in, you gain access to a page called ‘Site Admin’, which you are automatically taken to after signing in. Once there, click on ‘Profile’ and scroll down to the bottom of the page to change your password.
How to comment on a topic – When you are ready to start commenting, log in, you will be taken to ‘Site Admin’, simply click the link at the top left of the page to navigate back to the Blog. When viewing the Posts again you will notice a box has appeared in which you can write your comment! Once posted, your profile name, which you were asked to provide when registering, will appear along with the time and date and of course, your comment. If you want to amend your profile name, simply return to ‘Site Admin’ (bottom left) and change your settings by clicking on ‘Profile’. Simples!
What are RSS Feeds and How to use them
What are RSS Feeds – RSS Feeds are a simple but effective way for you to keep updated with recent additions to the Get Involved! Blog. The RSS Feeds on the blog can do 3 things. You can:
1) Get notifications of new Posts to the Blog. (Click RSS Entries under Meta)
2) Get notifications of new Comments on all Posts in the Blog. (Click RSS Comments under Meta)
3) Get notifications of new Comments on a specific Post of your choosing. (Click RSS 2.0 at the end of each Post)
So how do these notifications appear? The notifications are already set up on the blog, and links to them can be found at the bottom of each Post, or by clicking Entries RSS or Comments RSS in the bottom left of the home page under Meta. All you have to do is link these pages to your web browser, where they appear much the same as any bookmark.
How to set them up – You can get different notifications depending on what part of the blog you want to follow. Click on the link to the RSS Feed that you want to get notifications from (see above) – this takes you to the page of notifications. Then simply follow your usual process for bookmarking a page. You can then name this bookmark whatever you please, and locate it either in your bookmark menu, a bookmark folder, on if you have one, in your bookmark toolbar. When there is a notification, a (1) will appear next to your bookmark. Click on the bookmark to get details of what is new on the blog! You can of course set up as many of these as you like and arrange and name them as you please.
What if I want to make a Post myself?
When you register, you are given the status of Subscriber, allowing you to Comment and view Posts, but nothing more.
If you wish to create a Post of your own on a subject relating to the categories, you can apply for the position of Contributor. This allows you to write your Post, where the Administrator of the Blog can then post it.
To apply to become a Contributor, then email Cassidy Sterling: cassidy@susiladharma.org
We want to hear from you! No comment is too small or insignificant – as an author of a Post it is great to hear anything back from those reading it.
